Earlier this month, Opportunity Nation, a national campaign comprised of more than 350 cross-sector organizations – including LIFT – released its policy plan.
This Opportunity Nation plan sets forth policies that are evidence-based, bipartisan and cross-sector. Developed and supported by the Opportunity Nation Coalition, this plan draws on ideas from many leaders, practitioners and institutions. Among other things, the policies outlined in the plan will help:
- Expand access to high quality early childhood education for low- and moderate income children and families
- Strengthen and invest in families
- Ensure every child has a home
- Ensure no child goes through the school day hungry
LIFT is proud to be a part of Opportunity Nation as we continue to see the gaps of inequality that divide Americans along racial and economic lines continues to widen at an alarming rate. This divide is rooted in historical structures and systems that have resulted in opportunity for some and a lack of for many others. This is counter to the American dream. If we are truly going to fulfill America’s promise of being a nation of opportunity, we must come together across all sectors and party lines to tackle this divide.
