We are thrilled to congratulate Michael Sobel, a longtime LIFTer, for receiving the Barclays Citizenship Award! Because of his heavy lifting, dozens of community members in the Bronx are now armed with the tools they need to get back into the workforce!
An avid supporter of LIFT-New York, Michael spearheaded and cultivated the relationship between LIFT-New York and Barclays by organizing info sessions where community members received one-on-one help from Barclays employees with writing their resumes and interviewing skills.
“I think that through working with them, we are helping them break the generational cycle of poverty that plagues New York City and the country at large,” explains Michael Sobel. Not only has he helped LIFT community members improve their job hunting skills, but he also helped them gain a restored sense of confidence.
