Sodexo’s Steve Mangan Joins LIFT-Chicago Board

CHICAGO– Steve Mangan, the managing director of Sodexo and Northwestern University’s foodservice partnership, nuCuisine, has joined LIFT-Chicago’s Regional Advisory Board.

Mangan brings his experience as a strategist, business leader, and active community citizen to his role with LIFT-Chicago.  He also has secured a philanthropic commitment from the Sodexo Foundation to support LIFT’s work in Chicago and Evanston.

In his current position at Sodexo, Steve is enhancing an already nationally acclaimed residential and retail food operation with a world-class sustainability program at Northwestern.  Prior to coming to Evanston, Steve worked at Indiana University’s Memorial Union where he helped drive substantial growth of local sourcing, energy and water reduction programs, expanded its sustainable events and introduced an integrated pest control program and involvement in the local community.  Mangan helped the institution apply for, and qualify for, LEED EB silver certification for the union.

Mangan remains an avid student of environmental stewardship by (reviewing, writing, attending conferences or training programs).  He still actively hones the design, preparation and cooking skills he gained at the Culinary Institute of America.  He earned the Sodexo Foundation’s Hero of Everyday Life Award in 2007 and numerous gold and silver cooking medals in each of the last three decades (’80s, ’90’s and ’00’s).  Mangan is an accomplished bicyclist and musician.  He graduated Michigan State University in pre-med before moving on to graduate and culinary school.
