Single Stop Launches Seven New Sites to Help Veterans and their Families

“Our veterans have put their lives on the line for us.  We are honored to be able to give them something back. Using the most persuasive voices we can find  — other veterans — to reach out to fellow vets in need through our partnership with the Mission Continues,  the visionary support of Robin Hood, and Single Stop’s unique ‘one-stop’ model, we will connect veterans and their families to the critical resources they need here on the home front.  Integrating these services into the great New York Public Library System, we can reach and serve thousands of veterans and other individuals who otherwise would not receive this support.”

– Elisabeth Mason, CEO

We are thrilled to announce that our newest initiative – one-stop services for veterans – is now available at seven sites throughout New York City. Veterans can now access benefits and receive support at community-based organizations, the Mid-Manhattan Library of the New York Public Library and NYC Workforce1 Career Centers. All seven offices will incorporate a  model provided by The Mission Continues, in which trained veterans screen fellow veterans for specific needs, and then either provide the services on-site, or refer them to pre-selected veteran service providers.

Open to all veterans regardless of service era or discharge status, this program is especially critical for those returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. It can be difficult and time-consuming for returning veterans and their families to sort through all the various benefits and access the resources and programs that they need to thrive.  Our veterans services will include the entire household, spouses, grandparents, children, and other family members to ensure that the whole family receives the critical services they need.

By partnering with The Mission Continues, the Robin Hood Foundation, the New York Public Library, Workforce1, LIFT, Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corp as well as collaborating with the Veterans Administration, we are making it easier for veterans to find and access critical services that will support their transition to civilian life.
