LIFT’s Roxbury Office Holds First Client Appreciation Holiday Dinner

Written by: Rachel Starnes, Communications Intern, Boston University

The LIFT office in Roxbury held its first annual holiday client appreciation party on December 2nd at the Vine Street Community Center. The celebration was a student-led effort in which students from Northeastern, Boston College and UMass Boston coordinated all the food, entertainment and gift give away. With over 20 clients and their families in attendance, the spirit and appreciation that LIFT clients and volunteers have for one another was truly evident.

Clients were recognized and thanked by the volunteers for their continued hard work, dedication to success, and commitment to the LIFT’s model. Clients returned the appreciation with gratitude for all the support their volunteers have given on their behalf. The event provided a wonderful opportunity for clients and volunteers to celebrate their achievements together.

An abundance of holiday cheer provided the perfect backdrop for the delicious meal provided by both volunteers and clients. Food donations from Trader Joe’s, Pavement Coffee House, and Haley House were also enjoyed. Live music, performed by “Dan Swain and the Gentlemen,” entertained all, especially the children. Kids danced the night away while their parents participated in a raffle.  Every child also received a gift, made possible through the generous donations from the Red Cross Club at Northeastern University, volunteers, and staff.

A special thanks to all our volunteers who donated time, effort, food, and toys to the event. Most especially, thank you to all of our clients who made the party a night to remember. Happy Holidays!
