LIFT-NY Announces Azlina Wetmore as New Board Chair for 25th Anniversary Year

LIFT-NY is pleased to announce Azlina Wetmore as its new Board Chair. Azlina brings a wealth of experience as Head of Governance, Valuations, & Innovation within Risk Management at Capital One. LIFT-NY’s Executive Director, Xiomara Romain, is excited to be working with Azlina in this capacity. “I am honored to serve with Azlina and thrilled that she has committed her skills, expertise, and passion to LIFT’s mission,” Xiomara said. “Having served on the board since 2022, Azlina has demonstrated a deep understanding and passion for our work and has advised LIFT-NY on local growth and expansion strategies, as well as helping to expand our network of supporters”.

“As board chair, I am looking forward to serving LIFT-NY in its mission to build families’ well-being, financial strength and social connections. Having benefited from the power of education, I am passionate about promoting economic mobility for all.” Azlina said.

This year LIFT-NY is celebrating 25 years of empowering families to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty in the South Bronx. Last fiscal year, thanks to generous supporters and the work of LIFT’s staff and coaches, LIFT directly supported 120 people and impacted 700 others through its service and technical assistance. LIFT-NY’s hope is that as it enters its next chapter, it forges relationships with local, state, and federal stakeholders to influence policies and change systems that have created inequities for so many low-income families.
