LIFT Los Angeles is proud to announce the appointment of a new Board Chair – Vicky Mara Story
We are thrilled to have Vicky Story step into the Board Chair role at LIFT-Los Angeles. LIFT is in an exciting and pivotal moment of growth and innovation. As we reflect on our deepened impact over the last 25 years and prepare to embark on a new strategic plan, Vicky’s leadership, guidance, and thought partnership is an incredible asset to me as a leader, to our staff, and to the incredible Angeleno families with whom we have the privilege of partnering. Vicky succeeds Carrie Southworth Johnson as the board chair, ushering in LIFT’s next phase of transformative service to families breaking cycles of poverty.
Vicky is a proven champion for equity. She believes deeply in the importance of storytelling—the simple idea that centering the voices of people impacted by and fighting against injustice is necessary, has power, and creates change.
Vicky Mara Story is Sunshine and like sunshine, Vicky is a powerful force of good shining on all that she encounters. As a first-generation American-born Filipino girl growing up in South Central Los Angeles, Vicky had many adversities to overcome, but she prevailed. Shattering stereotypes and limitations in various parts of her life gracefully becoming the woman she is today.
Vicky attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and Cal State LA earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration: Operations Management and became the first Filipino girl to pledge the historically African American sorority, Zeta Phi Beta, Inc. Vicky set out as an entrepreneur and went on to become an executive producer, real estate broker, investor, philanthropist, wife, mother of three, and co-founder of Hollywood storytelling empire The Story Company where she now serves as the Chief Operating Officer. With 25 years of experience in the film industry, public speaking, and negotiation, Vicky has emerged as an author with the release of her upcoming book The Sunshine Revolution.
Vicky is not only an accomplished businesswoman but a beacon of light in her community. Her journey through self-discovery and commitment to authenticity has inspired countless others to shine. Vicky Story’s Mission is to heal through words, communication, spirit, and sharing.
