LIFT-Boston receives $32,300 Technology Grant from Richard and Susan Smith Family Foundation

BOSTON, MALIFT-Boston, part of a national non-profit organization dedicated to helping families achieve financial stability, received a $32,300 capital grant from the Richard and Susan Smith Family Foundation to improve its technological infrastructure in three of its local centers.

Maicharia Weir Lytle, Regional Executive Director of LIFT-Boston, said, “Our computers and printers are a vital component of how we capture our work and progress with our clients.  This grant will allow us to transform our capabilities and comes at a critical time as we are implementing a brand new case management system.”

The award will be used to provide new desktop and laptop computers and printers to LIFT’s Roxbury, Somerville and Cambridge centers.  As the computer and printer systems are crucial to providing quality service to Greater Boston residents, this upgrade will accelerate the process of working with low-income individuals and families to find solutions to their immediate and long term needs, such as housing, food support, employment, healthcare and legal assistance.

Weir Lytle is confident that this grant will improve the efficacy of one-on-one client meetings, along with LIFT-Boston’s overall operations.  In 2012 alone, LIFT-Boston will serve over 2,500 clients, growing its capacity to assist vulnerable Boston area residents by 33%.

In addition to the Richard and Susan Smith Family Foundation, LIFT-Boston would like to recognize its Trustees who made this generous grant possible:

Richard and Susan Smith

John, Amy S., James and Elizabeth Berylson

Jonathan Block and Jennifer Berylson Block

Robert and Dana Smith

Debra S., Jessica and Andrew Knez

LIFT also operates centers in Chicago, New York, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.  Over the past 13 years, LIFT has helped over 60,000 individuals and families ascend out of poverty.
