2017 was a year of hard work and goals achieved for our LIFT members and their families. There was no better way to honor and celebrate these families than throwing the bash of the year with our members and sponsors together in one room! So LIFT-Los Angeles hosted its fourth annual Holiday Fiesta at Hubble Studio to do just that.
What began as a small gathering of families at our office in Magnolia Place has now evolved into a full blown celebration of the giving season, complete with music, food and a whole lotta LIFT love.
Holiday Fiesta was designed not only to celebrate the hardworking families of LIFT, but also as a way of introducing the families we work with in the community to LIFT supporters and their families. When our generous supporters in Los Angeles sign up to sponsor a LIFT family, they purchase the families’ entire holiday wish lift and donate a minimum of $3,000 to sponsor their participation in LIFT’s program for 1 year at our Los Angeles office.
In one of his last speeches, Martin Luther King Jr. expressed the importance of having courageous empathy to be able to not only understand the struggle of those who have been left behind, but to be a part of their journey so they can also lead creative lives with choice, access, opportunity. This idea is exactly what was sparked at the Holiday Fiesta. This celebration of investment in LIFT’s families filled Holiday Fiesta with exchanges of joy, love, creativity and connection. In addition to the presents purchased, we are grateful for the the gift of relationship that will keep on giving throughout the year.
From the moment you stepped into the Fiesta, you could feel the amor all around. Families enjoyed all sorts of holiday activities. They created holiday cards sponsored by Bank of America, decorated picture frames sponsored by City National Bank, designed their own holiday stockings courtesy of Pair of Thieves, created snow globes courtesy of Munger, Tolles & Olson, decorated Foodstirs organic holiday cookies, spun gourmet cotton candy and took festive family photos thanks to a photo studio donated by our friends at Facebook.
Our LIFT families enjoyed an afternoon of excitement and left with renewed hope, knowing that it’s not only LIFT staff that believes in them, but families all over LA too.
